Maybe as an automatic check after first login(?). And then after next logins again only if there are any files/folders with wrong permissions(?).
CMSimple.sk
It's no shame to ask for an answer if all efforts failed.
But it's awful to ask without any effort to find the answer yourself.

Actually, after an installation in admin mode, you should call the item Settings -> Info. Then you will get some very useful hints.
If we need another pre-check, we can discuss here. I am not sure about that.
To be sure it is replicable I installed from scratch again on another machine. The problem , at least when installing in localhost/~user, is, that the page after login as admin is unusable because of the permissions. In fact, I see a blank page, only if scrolling for a while scrambled content appears. This is with apache and openSUSE Tumbleweed and 1.7.4RC1, nothing else.
Therefore a user probably won't reach the Settings->info page. Just my 2¢.

But then probably a page with hints for missing permissions would not be displayed correctly. And then there would be no reason for it.

We will add a page with installation hints on cmsimple-xh.org

A nice solution imho to this hen-and-egg problem is implemented in flatpress, which shows a page with permission hints at first run.

Even two cents are money. ;-)
Since I am not able to implement your suggestions, you have no other choice than to agitate here until some developer is convinced and implements the thing.
If that is feasible, you have my support. But there are probably many other things that are more important.

Maybe you could extend reqcheck.php to do this.
Then you would have to upload and run it again in case of an error.

reqcheck.php is actually intended to check the server conditions before an installation. At this time, the rights of the XH files cannot be checked at all.
So you would have to use another check that works inside XH.

Maybe it is enough to link directly to Settings -> Info at the first login?
The question remains, how can you find out when it is the first login?

Grüße zurück. Du gibst nicht auf was? ;)
