Hi b,

thank you for the mobile template. :) I've made some modifications to it, and installed it as template for mobiles on my website.

Hello Community,

a new version of detectmobilebrowsers is available since June 12th. You can download it and simply replace plugins/handheld/detectmobilebrowsers.js

hi ,

really like your idea with the mobile detector but i think you should also consider responsive website design, it means a flexible template that works for all devices. please have a look at this.

i am planning on building a demo site using a responsive template in the future

Hi kweku,

+ 1. A very interesting basis might be http://www.getskeleton.com/.

But regarding smartphones a separate site might nonetheless be reasonable, to present users of these devices only the most important information to avoid endless scrolling and to respect the (often) limited bandwidth.

The help-file is empty.
Can someone explain how it works? When someone browse with a mobile phone to my website: what happens?
Do I have to make a second website/content for my mobilephone-version?

Hi Rob,

Yes. You can configure the site all mobile browsers should be redirected to in the plugin's configuration. The site can be a CMSimple subsite, a totally separate CMSimple installation or even a site made without CMSimple.

In the next version (1beta4; will probably be released this week), you have the option to choose another template for mobile browsers (without any redirection). This might not be the best way to present a mobile friendly site, but it doesn't require to maintain a separate content. You can see how this works on my site.
