How to manage extra long plugin menu

Post by sareide » Fri Apr 27, 2012 7:49 am

Hi all
I've installed all plugins thant I've found to test them and to decide which of them I'll use in future.

But now plugin menu is very long and some of them are displayed under the bottom of the screen. It will be usefull to have a sort of submenu where plugin re divided in groups (10-15) in order to have all of them visible

Any suggestion?

Hi Josef, hi sareide,

there was a discussion recently about temporarily disabling plugins: http://www.cmsimpleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=4558. That might be an interesting solution particularly for testing with many plugins, as these might slow down the processing of the request. The most simple way to do this without any modifications to CMSimple might be: http://www.cmsimpleforum.com/viewtopic. ... 749#p21745

Hello saraide,

please test the Pluginmanager_XH RC02:

Download: http://www.ge-webdesign.de/cmsimple/dlc ... php?id=373

There are some modified core files in the download, you should only use it with CMSimple_XH 1.5.3. If you are using CMSimple_XH 1.5.x (< 1.5.3), please update to 1.5.3 at first, there is an Update pack available on sourceforge.net:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cmsimpl ... _XH%201.5/

After that you can install the Pluginmanager_XH RC02 with the modified core files.

The help file is in German only, that's why I tell you here:

- The file "./disabled_plugins.txt" needs writing permissions.

- After installing the Pluginmanager_XH and the modified core files you can call the Pluginmanager directly by clicking "Plugins" in the Admin Menu on top.

I would be glad to get some feedback,

Gert

Hi Gert,

particularly with regard to sareide's long plugin menu: wouldn't it be nice to set a class for the list items in the plugin menu, so a user could hide them by changing only the style?

I can imagine the list to be opened in a list with vertical scrollbar. I have really nice monitor, but now - while testing almost all available XH?plugins, the list is longer than the monitor can show. So I either have to zoom- the fonts or use full screen (what doesn't help either). But if the Pluginmanager would have the pluginlist defined as a SELECT box, the number of show plugins would be optional in configuration. If the real number would exceed the pre-configured value, the scroll bar would be added to the list. How about this?

It's no shame to ask for an answer if all efforts failed.
But it's awful to ask without any effort to find the answer yourself.

Hi
it seems that the pluginmanager does not work on my site (a standard 1.5.3 installation).

After the copy I saw a semi-black pange without the content piece of page 8only header and toc.

I post the txt file inside the root of cmsimple

Hello,

if you disable a plugin that is called in the template, the template quits its work after the plugin call. The same happens, if you call a not installed plugin in the template.

Enable all plugins or make the disabled_plugins.txt empty, or remove the plugin call from the template,

In a standard installation (with the standard template) it should work ...

If you use another template (with plugin calls for not installed plugins), you will get this problems, also without Pluginmanager.

Hello,

there is a small bug in Pluginmanager_XH RC02 - all plugins, loaded befor Pluginmanager, are not completely disabled.

I have found the reason and I'm working,
