More dynamic menu????
More dynamic menu????
Hi
On some of my templates where i use Advance toc, or a static css menu, the submenu will be shown at once when i roll the mouse over.
I wonder if it is possible to create a more dynamic Horizontal dropdown menu. Where the submenu will roll slowly out, and slowly in agen when i remove the mouse agen.
Like on thei site here http://www.al-syn.dk/

Hi maeg,
the menu on the linked site is done with JS. If I disable JS in my browser, there is no dropdown at all!
But you could have a look at superfish and suckerfish. AFAIK those are JS scripts that can be used in combination with CSS dropdowns. And AFAIK they'll enable horizontal dropdown menus even for IE6 (if JS is enabled). Suckerfish is used on http://www.tierfreunde.be

...always a good site for CSS-only-special-effects : http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/
For the intended effects look for "CSS3" and "slide"
The http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/iPad-slide-hide.html for example, with other colours....

Please test my template: http://cmsimple-styles.com/cmsimplestyl ... 2_v1.2.zip
It has the navigation effect you want to see.

Re: More dynamic menu????
Why would someone disable JS? For me this is a non-issue. It's not 2001 anymore. Even Phones now fully support JS.cmb wrote:Hi maeg,

Hello Jens,
At least I would prefer an alternative means of navigation of a website, even if JS is disabled. For CMSimple the submenu() might be enough.
Christoph
IMO there is no reasonable reason to do so, besides performance reasons on websites with too much JS (sometimes I choose to deactivate JS for those sites), and for the visually impaired. But I'm not sure, if there are many users, who disable JS as they're afraid of dangers, caused by a lack of understanding, what harm might be caused by JS.CMSimple-Styles.com wrote:Why would someone disable JS?

Hello Jens, hello amccorm,
I've just had a look at the template: the JS effect for the TOC is really great! And even if JS is disabled, the menu still works (though without the effects)

It's working fine with Chrome 14.0.835.187 m on Windows XP for me. So, can you please post the link to your site?amccorm wrote:but alas the drop down doesnt work for me ie9.0.2 and chrome 14.0.835.186

Re: More dynamic menu????
here is the url...could it be the free server causing the problem?
http://cwdtestspace.freeiz.com/cms/
edit: yea so I uploaded it to my own site and the dropdown works so it was definatly something to do with the freeiz server config
