FCKeditor for CMSimple 2.2.0beta is out!

Post by Connie » Sun Jun 29, 2008 1:06 pm

Yuhu! We did it!

the new version of the editor is out!

This new version integrates:

1. complete internal linking of CMSimple-pages, even multilingual pages as well

2. the CMSimple-specific configuration is integrated as an editor-plugin,
stronger security, as file-uploads are only
possible as logged in admin.
This functionality is provided by Cookies and session IDs
Protection of illegal file upload to your server

3. The plugin now recognizes automatically the folder structure of your webserver and integrates into the recognized basepath

4. better support of the user's / admin's actual language configuration

5. CSS-Styles of the active CMSimple-Templates are supported by the editor

As we need intensive testing of this version, it is published as Beta.
We ask you to download and test and publish any possible bugs here! (Hopefully you won't find too much...)

After the beta-period, the documentation will be updated as well, in the moment there is a readme1st.txt with that ZIP

FCKEditor for CMSimple, 2.2.0b4 is out now.

This version supports PHP from Version 4.1.0

Download as usual at http://www.webdeerns.de
Please test it and give feedback!

Does that mean that my problem is solved?

FCKeditor still use "/subfolder/images/image.jpg" and, as I said before, there's IMHO no other solution at the moment.

When I use the editor on Windows XP with a German version of Firefox 3 the editor controls show up in the German language. That's OK.
When I use the editor (on the same web site) with Linux and also the German version of Firefox 3, all controls of the editor are in English.

I wonder from where it is determined what language to use?

What confuses me at first is that the internal CMSimple links are now in a separate menu and not as a separate register in the link dialog. Besides this the links work well in my multi-language installation.

Hi Sordon,

thanks for the feedback!
Have you tested an image-upload with the auto-detected settings?
Sordon wrote:I wonder from where it is determined what language to use?
FCKeditor can detect the browser-language. Maybe on linux with FF3 this function fails.
You can set your prefered language in ./FCKeditor/custom_configurations/fckconfig_cmsimple.js:

Code: Select all

FCKConfig.AutoDetectLanguage	= false ;
FCKConfig.DefaultLanguage	= 'de' ;

Sorry, we forgot a hint on that in the readme. But there would be a description on it in Connies doku.
In older versions the tab in the link dialog was hacked into the core files of the editor.
Now the internal links are coded as a plugin for the editor with a toolbar-button.

I tried it on another Linux installation with Firefox 3. There the language detection works and the editor is showing its controls in German. Hmh, I have to look what the difference is between both installations. But on the other side following the advice to set it explicitly to German is a good fix for the problem.

I read that the internal links are realized as a plugin, but didn't realize that this means a separate control. For sure the plugin approach it the right way.

Uploads only tested once with a jpg-file (that worked). I will look more into this.

Best Regards,
Sordon
