Replace 'content' by backup in XH

Post by Nicky » Sun Aug 15, 2010 3:22 pm

How can I overwrite the content by a former backup file?

Since XH it is no longer possible to 'edit' content, only 'view' and 'download' can be done.

No problem if you know how to use ftp, but most of my clients have never heard of that.
Is there a possibility to do this directly via the site editor?

Thx

It can be simple:
Copy the entire content.htm from its backup and paste it in source mode before the very first H1 page. Then delete page after page the entire former content. It is possible that a multiple "DUPLICATE HEADINGS" will be reported.
But IMHO it is much easier to learn the user the very simple steps to do it via FTP. My experience is that in this case I delete first the page_data.php and only then upload the content.htm. New page_data is then properly created. It is then necessary to CHMOD the permission.

It's no shame to ask for an answer if all efforts failed.
But it's awful to ask without any effort to find the answer yourself.
