Clean URLs as optional feature for CMSimple_XH

Hello Community,
once in a while users ask for having clean URLs. I still don't deem that useful for SEO purposes, but it is definitely nice for users, particularly those working with mobile devices. I made available a recipe to have clean URLs for XH 1.5 and updated that for XH 1.6 recently, but in the long run I'd like to suggest adding the feature to the core[1]. Besides saving users the time to make the necessary changes after every update, this might be helpful with regard to plugins which currently won't produce clean URLs at all. To make it easier for plugin and core developers to produce the URLs as configured, an API could be introduced (perhaps based on my earlier suggestion).
[1] It should be optional, though, as we're probably able to handle clean URLs for Apache servers with mod_rewrite enabled, only.
