CMSimple Template Designers - The Way It Is

Post by mikey » Thu Mar 12, 2015 9:41 am

RE: http://het-kompjoetertje.nl/

Any one that knows me, knows I have made templates for over a decade for cmsimple.

I have always maintained the same model.

Instant Downloads, Pay if you want to remove my link.

Many years ago, Peter Harteg ( creator of cmsimple ) always maintained a Link Removal Violator List on his site, a kind of name and shame, and I also did it with the dotcomwebdesign domain.

Not long before Peter sold the cmsimple rights, the violators list was dropped.

In any case, whilst an online list is no longer held, no one kid themselves, the link removals are as rampant as ever, 99% of people still remove design links, and they really don't give a shit.

I am only posting this , as to be honest, the theft of my personal design works really gets under my skin

Here is a recent example, and just shows you the mentality of the 99% that doesn't care:

And he even offers webdesign

Wow !

You were not joking

What makes you think you can use my designs as long as you like, without honoring my license !!

Disgusting attitude, and I feel sorry for your customers.

Very annoying and frustrating, such contemporaries do not die out.
Not even changed the template name is still "block"!

The development of a template will cost a lot of time. In addition still the publication and the presentation and preparation for downloading, costs for the Web space, and so on.

How much is a link. It doesn't cost anything. Only a tiny text at the bottom of the page.

Ludwig !

Many thanks for the reply

since last week, after posting this, i have now found no less that 80+ sites doing just this:( with my new cmsimple.pw templates

never even thought about mentioning http://www.SHOP737.COM that stole +600 of my designs, and continue to promote them

sent at least a dozen emails to them, as well as facebook posts, they just don't care

sad to say, no one should ever adopt my , free to download 1st model

It is bad not to heed the license, but it is even worse to redistribute the work of other's if that violates the license. I'm afraid, however, that that cannot be avoided (there are simply too many Bad Guys), unless one is willing to "punish" the Good Guys as well by not providing free downloads (if only for evaluation purposes) in the first place.

How about to write some code and store it on your own domain? Hardcode something into the template so, that without a link to your domain or without the link to it the template won't work?

It's no shame to ask for an answer if all efforts failed.
But it's awful to ask without any effort to find the answer yourself.

Anybody who is able to remove the designer link, is most likely able to remove this code also. :(

I mean - put some part of the template hardcoded in an external file stored on designer's domain.
