2column Plugin-Menu & XH_registerStandardPluginMenuItems

Post by Holger » Wed Nov 12, 2014 10:40 pm

It's not possible to access the plugins of the second column, if every plugin of the first column use XH_registerStandardPluginMenuItems:

Good catch! Any ideas how to solve the issue? Simply leave some space above the menu items? :?

Not sure :? . In the example above you can scroll below "Hilfe" or above "Galerien verwalten" to get access to the 2nd col.

So in general it seems not to be impossible -- but it's not really user friendly.

ACK. Maybe it's sufficient to mitigate the issue by using all 12 rows in the first column until we fill the second one? (Currently the menu tries to balance the columns.) I assume that most users have at most a dozen plugins installed.

Maybe move the 2nd level of the "integrated Pluginmenu" a few pixel down and some more pixel to the left :? So it becomes possible to access the 2nd col. on every side around the opened plugin menu.

hmm, open the 3rd level of the left 2nd level entries to the left and the 3rd level of the right 2nd level entries to the right... of course not so breautiful for smartphones, but in my view the 3rd level isn't essential.

This would be a simple and workable solution. However not many plugins use XH_registerStandardPluginMenuItems, so the problem seems to me not that urgend.

Why not move the 2cols layout one to the left that the entry point lays on the right column?. Then the hover always start from the right side/column.
My plugins selection is a 3cols layout where I have no problems to reach every plugin item.

We have to consider that the adminmenu is adaptable since XH 1.6.3:

Interesting idea. I would like to see this and maybe some alternatives in action.
