menu and mouse over

About the template and stylesheet - and changing the menu

menu and mouse over

Postby mrpurple » Sat Jan 29, 2011 3:17 pm

it is possible build an horizontal or vertical menu, that open the submenu (without changing the page ) when mouse is over ?
i think that so it is a better navigation if the visitor could go directly in another submenu page instead to open every time the main page.
can a newby do it ?
thank you

Even a newby may search in Templates section of this forum and find sources of hundreds templates. Many of them have exactly the menu you are looking form. Download the menu and try to learn from template.htm and stylesheet.css how things are done.

Styling the menu is a topic of CSS stylesheet.css file. You may find hundreds of CSS tutorials on internet describing step-by-step how whatever can be styled. Then you mostly only need to put the code into your stylesheet and define proper classes in yout template.htm.

http://www.seoconsultants.com/css/menus/tutorial/
http://www.tutorial5.com/content/view/147/52/ (here ignore the the HTML code - in template.htm zou need only the toc(); function in a DIV with defined class e.g. "toc", the style code then copz and paste into yout stylesheet.css as a class ".toc" . Then play with collors, dimensions etc)
Or simply try http://wonderwebware.com/css-horizontal-menu/
