Hello Community,
Detlef (dst) has pointed out several issues regarding the config options folder_* to me.
Firstly, it is not clear enough that folder_images, folder_downloads and folder_media denote subfolders of folder_userfiles; this is particularly irritating for users who have worked with older CMSimple(_XH) versions before. Okay, there are the help texts, but experienced CMSimplers might not see the need to look them up.
Secondly, changing one of the settings is possible, but it is likely to cause malfunctions unless the folders are created manually. For instance, changing folder_images to the non existing folder "bilder" will not cause an error message, not even when the filebrowser is requested. Uploading a file, however, will result in the rather unhelpful error message "%FILENAME% was not uploaded."
To keep things simple, I suggest that we set all four config options to "hidden". Most users will not change these settings anyway, and experienced users and webmasters could still do this directly in config.php.
Thoughts?
Christoph

All right, let's hide everything the normal user will not change. The experienced user is supposed to work with the source files isn't he? Or will there be somewhere below a button "hidden settings [only for over 18]"? In this case the hidden settings could be accompanied by explanatory hints, not bad for instance for the hidden mailform-linebreak-setting.

That's sensible. I suggest to postpone that to CMSimple_XH 1.7, though.svasti wrote: Or will there be somewhere below a button "hidden settings [only for over 18]"?
